For advanced surfers, a safer option is Mawi, Gerupuk, and Ekas which are all located around the Kuta area. If you go to the West and North side of Lombok Island Senggigi and Gili Trawangan are the best surf spot to visit as well. Although they are less dangerous than Desert Point, they are still very challenging waves for intermediate and advanced surfers.
