Often overlooked due to the growing popularity of neighboring Bali, the island of Lombok remains a little hidden gem that has also seen a steep climb in tourism in recent times. Whether it’s visiting the Gili islands, climbing Mount Rinjani, or surfing Desert Point, people slowly realize how beautiful and diverse Lombok is.
As far as surfing goes, the main area to aim for is on the south side of the island. Desert Point is a bit off the beaten track on the southwest tip of Lombok and should only be an option for the most experienced surfers. This wave is one of the best waves in the world but also very dangerous.

If you are a beginner surfer, the best spot for you we recommend is Senggigi, West Nusa Tenggara. Senggigi area is the best place for beginners and fewer surfers. Senggigi area offers more than 5 surfing spots which mean everyone will learn fast and more safely than in crowded spot.
For advanced surfers, a safer option is Mawi, Gerupuk, and Ekas which are all located around the Kuta area. If you go to the West and North side of Lombok Island Senggigi and Gili Trawangan is the best surf spot to visit as well. Although they are less dangerous than Desert Point, they are still very challenging waves for intermediate and advanced surfers.

When to go?
The best time to surf in Lombok is from November to March will be more rainy and the waves turn slightly south which is good for the whole south side of Lombok.
From April to October which represents the dry season with favorable SW waves.
